Walnut Creek Township

Holmes County, Walnut Creek TownshipThe beginning of Walnut Creek Township was in 1803 when a group of men from Pennsylvania came to the township to make a settlement for their families, who came in 1810.  Jacob Miller, an Amish minister, along with his sons Henry and Jacob Jr., made a settlement in 1808.  After establishing this settlement, Jacob went back to Pennsylvania during the winter and returned in the spring of 1809 with his family and his wife’s nephew, Jonas Stutzman, who was the first permanent settler of Holmes County when he laid claim on land in this township.
