For a month with only 28 days, February has a lot to celebrate—Black History Month, Groundhog Day, Chinese New Year, Presidents’ Day, Valentine’s Day and more! There’s so much that we can’t fit everything into this month’s kit, but we have added the additional information below.
Will it be an early spring this year? Find out by visiting the official Punxsutawney Phil website on February 2nd! You can also learn about the history of the famous groundhog and his day!
Black History Month celebrates the accomplishments and contributions African Americans have made for our society. You can learn more about Black History Month by visiting the Kids Academy website.
Included in February’s Kit:
Penguin Cut & Paste Craft—Create your own cute penguin for Valentine’s Day! Carefully cut out the parts of the penguin and put them together using glue, glue dots or tape.
Light-up Valentine’s Day Card—Make a Valentine’s Day Card that lights up! All the materials you need are included along with a detailed instruction sheet. Click here for more detailed instructions on creating a light-up circuit from Makerspaces.com. Celebrate Chinese New Year—The Chinese New Year celebrates the start of a new year based on the traditional lunar calendar. This festival can take place in either January or February. In 2021, it begins on Friday, February 12th and ends Monday, February 22nd. The Chinese Zodiac for this year is the Ox. Visit Chalk Academy to print out your own Chinese lantern template.
