Spring has sprung and it’s time for some new crafts and coloring pages! April is National Poetry Month and National Kite Month. April 1st is April Fool’s Day, the 2nd is International Children’s Day, and the 4th is Easter. The week of the 4th—10th is National Library Week, the 15th is World Art Day, the 22nd is Earth Day, the 27th is Tell a Story Day and the 30th is Arbor Day.
Included in the April Kit:
Kite Craft: Start by folding the top corners of the colored paper, similar to a basic paper airplane design. They should meet together in the middle. Then place the 8″ dowel down the middle of the paper and tape it in place. Place the 5″ dowel perpendicular across the top of the 8″ dowel. It should sit just below the paper you folded down. Tape it down as well. Now tie the piece of yarn where the dowels meet. Carefully tape the streamer to the end of the 8″ wood dowel to create the kite tail. Then fold (and tape) the bottom corners of the paper inward to finish the kite design.
Arbor Day Family Tree: Glue the included tree to the white piece of paper. Cut out the green leaves and glue them onto the tree’s branches, according to the number of people in your family. Write the names and birthdates of your family on each leaf beginning at the bottom of your tree with either parents or grandparents, placing the youngest family members higher up on the tree.
Plant a Bean: Included in your kit is a bean seed and a small plastic cup filled with dirt. Push your bean into the dirt deep enough to cover your fingernail, then cover with some of the dirt. Pour a small amount of water into the cup. Keep the soil moist while you wait about a week to see your bean sprout. You should be able to plant your bean plant outside by the end of May.
Also included in your kit are coloring and activity pages to enjoy!
