Bookmobile Support Fund

The Holmes County District Public Library Bookmobile is nationally recognized for its services to Amish and Mennonite communities with respect to their unique cultures. Along with an extensive Christian materials collection, the Bookmobile also provides wireless access for personal devices and/or onboard laptop computers and a variety of other materials for your educational and recreational interests.
Many of you are well aware of some of the drastic reductions that the Library was forced to take in order to ensure its continued existence in Holmes County. The Bookmobile program has also been impacted by this budget shortfall. Bookmobile stops have been shifted and combined and the materials budget has been reduced. However, despite these setbacks, the bookmobile is busier than ever and usage has increased every year. Furthermore, even with careful maintenance, the advanced age and condition of the bookmobiles will eventually warrant the purchase of a replacement. In response to this situation, the library instituted the first phase of the Bookmobile Support Fund that ran from 2010 to 2013. We were able to raise enough money during this three year period to keep both bookmobiles running. However, this money is all but depleted as of March 2014.
In order to ensure that the bookmobile continues to meet the needs of Holmes County residents, we are asking you to consider making a contribution to the Bookmobile Support Fund. Our goal is to raise at least $40,000 annually. Money raised will be allocated to provide:

  • Books and other library materials for children, teens and adults
  • A regular and dependable schedule of stops that reaches all areas of the county
  • Service to local schools, institutions and patrons that are homebound
  • Upgraded technology, Wi-Fi capabilities and onboard laptop computers to better serve the rural residents of Holmes County.
  • Continued maintenance and upkeep of the bookmobiles, with a portion of the donations going toward the purchase of a replacement bookmobile.

Your tax deductible donation will help ensure that quality bookmobile service in Holmes County will continue.  Please be sure to include Bookmobile Support Fund in the note field of your check or money order made out to Holmes County District Public Library.  Donations can be dropped off at any Library  location or mailed to Central Library / Attn: Bookmobile Support Fund / 3102 Glen Drive / Millersburg, Ohio / 44654
