Statement of Philosophy For Outreach Services
The Holmes County District Public Library is committed to providing library services to all residents of Holmes County, regardless of their ability to visit a library location.
Services Available Through Outreach
Delivery of library materials to residents who are unable to visit a fixed facility due to illness, disability or lack of transportation is a part of our commitment to provide service. This commitment also applies to care-givers of a person needing continuous care. Library staff members provide delivery service on a regular 4 or 5 week schedule to private homes and residential facilities.
Story time Programming is available to all preschool and daycare locations in the county through the Outreach Department.
Eligibility For Homebound Services Policy
To be eligible for home delivery of library materials, a patron must:
- Reside in Holmes County and have a valid library card, and
- Be unable to get to a fixed library facility or the Bookmobile due to health or lack of transportation, or
- Be a caregiver to a person requiring continuous care.
Service is either temporary or permanent depending on patron needs. Homebound service may be discontinued or modified for safety reasons. Service may also be discontinued if the purpose for the service is not being met.
Institutions within the county boundaries are eligible to receive delivery of library materials. They will need a valid Holmes county Library institutional card. Institutions include, but are not limited to nursing homes, senior centers, hospitals, correction facilities, and assisted living centers.
