Pumpkins, spiders, cats and bats are just some of the things that come to mind when we think of October. This year, something super exciting will be happening—October will have not one, but TWO (2) full moons! The first full Moon of fall—which is the Harvest Moon—will appear on Thursday, October 1st. Later in the month, on Saturday, October 31st (Halloween), the second full Moon appears. This is the Hunter’s Moon, which will be special for two reasons: it’s a rare Halloween Full Moon and a Blue Moon!
Here are a few activities to get you into the fall spirit!
Cat and Pumpkin Masks
Cut out, color and decorate the enclosed cat and pumpkin masks. Attach the enclosed mask bands to each mask and you’re ready for some fall fun!
Pom Pom Spider
Peel the backs from the googly eyes and press them on the pom pom. Next take 2 of the bigger glue dots , stretch them out a tiny bit and place them next to each other on the “stomach” of your spider. Then take the 3 pipe cleaners and press them side-by-side on the glue dots. These will be the spider’s legs. Cut out the mouth using the enclosed piece of pink paper and use the smaller glue dot to stick it on your spider. You did it! Here is a link to some directions.
Cat Clothespin Craft
Using a glue stick or other type of glue, glue the wiggly eyes onto the cat’s face. Next, glue the head to the one end of the body and the tail on the other end. When ready, attach the cat body to one side of the clothespin. Peal the paper from the magnetic piece and secure it to the other side of the clothespin. Now you have a clothespin cat for your refrigerator that you can use to display a coloring page or picture!
