Gravesite Care

Gravesite care is the topic of the May 16, 2011 edition of the Savvy Senior in the Bargain Hunter.  A reader asked about how to locate an individual or agency to take care of their loved ones’ gravesites in their absence or for those who are physically unable to take care of the sites.  The following is what was suggested.

1.  Call a friend or family member or contact the church where the person was a member to see if someone can take care of the site.
2.  Contact the cemetery to see if there are any staff that will take care of the site.
3.  Hire a gravesite care company.  Many companies will do trimming as well as landscaping if that is permitted at the cemetery.
4.  To contact the companies who do this, contact the area memorial society or local funeral consumer alliance program  802-865-8300
5. A national  company like Grave Groomers  or Gravesite Masters at 877-476-6687
6. If you want fresh flowers or plants, you can try a local florist to see if they will deliver to the site.
