Read Across America

Dr. Seuss is on the loose!

Help celebrate the joy of reading by attending the Read Across America Event, March 1st, 2014 from 1 – 3 pm at the Central Library in Millersburg. Read Across America is a program of the National Education Association.

Whether you’re six, sixteen, sixty-four or more, you’ll enjoy listening to several local celebrities read your favorite Dr. Seuss stories in Pennsylvania Dutch, Spanish, with a British flair, sign language and more! Activities will be available throughout the celebration.

Reading times** and celebrity reader line-up includes:

  • Michele Simmons, WKLM Radio, “The Sneetches and Other Stories”  – 1:00 pm
  • Ellen Weaver, Library Assistant, – “The Cat in the Hat” in Pennsylvania Dutch – 1:15 pm
  • Dr. D.J. McFadden, Health Commissioner, Holmes County General Health District, “Oh Say Can You Say”– 1:30 pm
  • Raymond Buckland, author of Victorian Mysteries, stories from “The Bippolo Seed and Other Stories” – 1:45 pm
  • John Estill – reading in Spanish “The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins” – 2:00 pm
  • Brenda King – 2:15 pm – The Foot Book
  • Bill Martino, Director, HCDPL, “The Butter Battle Book” – 2:30 pm
  • Darrell Lee, First Knox National Bank & Lou Erb reading and signing “Green Eggs and Ham” – 2:45 pm
