My grandfather was born in Holmes County in 1893, and my grandparents were married in Holmes County in 1916. Would you have access to either of these records? If so, how can I obtain copies of these?

Do you have any information on the cemetery in Ragersville? I think my Great Grandparents are buried there. They are Joseph Johannes Schott (known as Johann or John) who died Feb. 6, 1929 and his wife Louisa Ottilia (Otilla) Stertzbach Schott who died Dec. 21, 1936. I believe both their parents, the Schotts and the Stertzbachs were buried in Winesburg Cemetery. And I am looking for their daughter, my Grandmother, Erma Emilie Schott Miller who died in Brewster in 1971.
Thanks for all your help.

Hello Sandra,
Ragersville is in Tuscarawas County. Here is the website for that library http://www.tusclibrary.org/ Brewster is in Stark County. The website for the Stark County Library is http://www.starklibrary.org/ Charles and Mary Schott are buried in the West Lawn Cemetery in Winesburg. Several Schotts are buried in Winesburg Old Cemetery. There are some Stertzbachs in West Lawn Cemetery. You might want to check with the Stark County Library for your grandmother’s information.
Best of luck with your search.

I was reading the blog on a different site, I had just found it and it is amazing. But, after reading from the begining I got to the last page that said it moved to here. I cant find it 🙁
Ok im not really sure if I did the link correct or maybe you are no longer doing the history information. I thought The Farmer Hub and This Month in Holmes County History were very interesting. They showed how close a community was back then and the minor things that could cuz death back then, that now are go easily corrected. The stray bullets, all of the stories were interesting.
I digress, 🙂 When I click the link, I go in a loop. I cant find anything that was like the other page. Is it me or has that changed into something else.
Thank You

Other than these that I have found are there any other information like this on this web site. I would love to do a little Holmes County research. I live way down in the tip of Texas and research is difficult.
Also on your original blog, you talked about family Histories in files –what are these and are they avilable for copy of view in the mail or on site? (not sure what these files are but I pictured as I was reading your blog –manilla folders)
Thank You for your help and all that you and the other members of your society

Thank you for viewing the Holmes County history blog. The new blog is at http://www.holmeslibrary.org/blog/category/genealogy-blog/ We are hoping to make an obvious link for it on our site; however, it doesn’t seem that WordPress has an option for that at the present time. Keep watching for new blog posts.

We are always uploading new information. The best place to see the information is the drop down on the research/homework tab. There is also a cemetery site in that drop down box that contains information about the local cemeteries. The family histories are in bound form and in files. In the genealogy section of our website http://www.holmeslibrary.org/departments/reference-services/genealogy/ , click the “genealogy room” link on the right. You will find a link to the family history index.

We own a house on Alexander street that was built in 1920. It was originally a doctor’s office and, I believe, his residence. We would like to know the actually history of the doctor and his practice here in the house. The apothecary shelves are still intact, and there is even an old gas wall lantern in the upstairs. Any help is appreciated.

We have some information about local business owners in the genealogy room at the Central Library. You are welcome to come in and browse the collection. You can also look at the records listed at the auditor’s office. Their website is http://www.holmescountyauditor.org/
